British Endodontic Society – Website & UX Design

The British Endodontic Society promotes and advances endodontology to ensure that the dental and general health of the nation is both maintained and improved, through the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases and injuries in these tissues. The society has a mixed audience; spreading their messages through to the general public as well as supporting their members and general practitioners. As such, they felt their website required an overhaul to better support their audience and to help them attract more membership applications.

The technology that drives their website is based on proprietary technology, it is well established and integrated with the society so the management team were looking for a front end website designer to work with their existing back-end developers to lift the website and make it more engaging.

Our initial focus was to understand the differences between their audiences and how the information could be delivered to them in a user-friendly and intuitive manner. We wanted to create a website that was lighter and more inviting in its appeal and also functioned just as well on mobile and tablet devices. We created a series of initial wireframes and designs and on approval moved through to creating a design and layout for each of the key templates that would be required. This was supported by a design guide document for the developers to use as a toolkit when coding a number of other features and functionality.

Designing the website to work better across all devices and adding more engaging imagery meant the pages really came to life, and now help the user find the information they’re after more easily which, has led to a very positive effect on the levels of membership engagement.
