De Montford University – Motion Graphics

We received a brief from the School of Allied Health Sciences to help the Biomedical Science Team with the development of a learning website; e-Parasitology. Parasitology is the study of parasites, their hosts, and the relationship between them. To help convey the messages the Team wanted us to design and develop two characters. These characters would be used to improve the usability of the website and also help lighten the subject matter. Our challenge was to come up with the design for the characters that was not too juvenile yet still had simple features that would allow us to easily alter their expressions.

What we did.

We designed two characters a Helminth (parasite) and an Amoeba and created these characters in various poses to direct the user through the web pages and also provided illustrations with the characters positioned with a number of props including a microscope and a set of test tubes. As part of the deliverables, we also created an animation with voiceover, featuring the two characters introducing the website and guiding the users through the resource.
